Logistics and Transportation
The Logistics and Transportation area deals with the modeling of logistic systems, stocks, storage, productive logistics, transport, information management and complementary services (among others). The models developed in this area of research are used to investigate, analyze and implement systems that add value for the end-user. Transport, which is considered a system with one of the greatest impacts on cost and response time to the supply chain, receives special attention in this area of study. The analytical tools developed can also be extended and applied to address business logistical problems in other sectors, yielding social applications, specifically in the provision of public services.
This area of concentration is divided into two lines of research:
(i) Analysis, optimization and management of logistics chains, and
(ii) Optimization and management of transportation systems and emergency public services.
